“Hardcore music has been instrumental in my life and I’m excited about getting on stage with Gavin again,” says Burn frontman Chaka Malik. “Much respect to the folks at Black and Blue for the work they’ve been doing. Keeping a viable platform for bands and people in the culture to experience what’s been a big part of many of our lives is really important. The old Ritz is a fitting venue for Burn to bring the energy we were known for in the past.”
Says Burn guitarist Gavin Van Vlack: “We’ve been approached to do this for well over a decade and it never felt like it was the right time. Finally the stars have aligned at a time when it all feels so right; where the pure desire that Chaka and I have to play these songs has come to fruit. It’s an honor to work with Black N Blue as well—they’ve put so much blood and sweat into supporting this culture of ours. Excited would be a massive understatement about how I feel about doing this.”

Black N’ Blue Bowl 2015 Sneak Peek 3 Featuring CANDIRIA, DAVE SMALLEY, MADBALL + More
In the wake of the previously announced bands confirmed for this years Black N’ Blue Bowl, the 3rd announcement brings news of yet another long-awaited and highly anticipated reunion from Brooklyn’s hardest and grooviest, Candiria.
We caught up with Candiria guitarist John LaMacchia, who had this to say about their appearance at this years BNB Bowl taking place Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th at Webster Hall in New York City;
“The band is extremely excited that this is finally happening. Candiria has been asked to play the Black and Blue Bowl every year for the past four or so and each year we’ve been bummed that we’ve had to say no for one reason or another. They always put together such a great lineup and we’ve always wanted to be a part of it. Now the band is back together and we couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than to share the stage with some great bands at the BnB Bowl this May.”
In addition to a Candiria reunion, also announced are reunions from Crumbsuckers and Agents Of Man alongside Sick Of It All, Expire, Wisdom In Chains, Bitter End, Suburban Scum, King Nine, Heavy Chains, and Mizery to mention a few.

MADBALL Announces New Album “Hardcore Lives”
New York City hardcore veterans Madball have set Hardcore Lives as the title of their forthcoming album. The LP was engineered by Ken Susi (Unearth) and mixed/mastered by Zeuss (Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Terror). It also features guest appearances from Scott Vogel (Terror), Toby Morse (H20) and Candace Puopolo (Walls Of Jericho).
With a musical legacy dating back over 25 years, frontman Freddy Cricien had the following to say about Hardcore Lives. “I shouted ‘Hardcore Lives’ on Madball’s first release, Ball Of Destruction, – I was twelve then. It wasn’t pre-planned or written down… it was an ad-lib that I just threw out there and we kept it! Back then there was no choice really, not the way we were recording – two track live at Don Fury‘s… NYHC style! I feel the sentiment behind the expression still holds true today, maybe even more so. That said, Hardcore Lives at least to us, is not just about a cool ‘catchphrase’ – it’s about that rebellious spirit that doesn’t give in… in life, music, whatever. It’s about growing, evolving and maintaining your integrity in the process. ”
The LP is to be released on June 27th via Cricien’s own The Black N Blue Label for the U.S. and Nuclear Blast in Europe. It will be available as a digipak and limited edition colored orange vinyl, both including two additional bonus tracks: “The Beast” which also appeared on 2012′s EP Rebellion and “Spit On Your Grave” originally from 1992′s Dropping Many Suckas EP. Both tracks have been exclusively re-recorded for this release.

2nd JUDGE Show Added (May 19th) For BNB Bowl 2013, Tix Available Friday, 3/1
A few weeks ago BNB Productions announced that the 2013 Black N Bowl was confirmed for May 18th at Webster Hall (the former Ritz) in New York City. Since the Bowl’s long-awaited return to New York City in 2010 (previous editions were in Brooklyn) the combination of the iconic venue and the classic line-up’s have propelled the New York Hardcore scene to a whole different level.
After officially announcing May 18th speculations began about what line-up could possibly live up to the GORILLA BISCUITS reunion from 2010 or RANCID and SHEER TERROR sharing the stage in 2011.
On February 19th, during an episode of the Black N Blue Takeover the line-up was finally revealed.
BNB Productions announced that New York Hardcore legends JUDGE would be headlining the 2013 Black N Blue Bowl, creating a viral explosion and instantly setting the internet on fire.
During the radio show Mike Judge, who was joined by Anthony “Civ” Civorelli, said: “Civ invited me to come see GORILLA BISCUITS play Webster Hall in 2010 and after they performed “New York Crew” I knew right then and there that this was the place where I wanted to stand and see everybody go off to my music.” Civ added: “I’m more excited than Mike is right now. They said it would never happen and here it is.”
As if this long-awaited reunion isn’t amazing enough JUDGE will be joined on stage by BREAKDOWN, BANE, BLACK TRAIN JACK, STRIFE, DISTRICT 9, TAKE OFFENSE, ALTERCATION, OLD FIRM CASUALS, FIRE & ICE, ARRABIO (Cuba), DOWNPRESSER, NO ONE RULES and a special guest, who will be announced at a later date.
On February 22nd at 10:00am, the online tickets were sold out in a record time of 30 seconds, creating an absolute online frenzy.
Making accommodations for the incredible demand of people wanting to see this reunion, BNB then spearheaded adding a 2nd Judge show, scheduled for Sunday, May 19th at Webster Hall. Alongside JUDGE will be MADBALL, CROWN OF THORNZ, STRENGTH APPROACH (Italy), and COLDSIDE with more bands and details to be announced in the coming days.
Tickets for the newly added May 19th show will be available Friday, 3/1 at 10:00am via Webster Hall and Pitchfork with limited amounts available at the locations listed below. As always, there will be a limited amount of tickets available for both shows at the door day of the show, although we highly suggest purchasing them in advance to secure entry.
