CATHOLIC GUILT - FREDDY MADBALL'S SOLO ALBUM OUT NOVEMBER 4TH! 2009-10-02 Official Press Release: CATHOLIC GUILT OUT 11/4: Featuring Rancid, Slaine and more! CATHOLIC GUILT - FREDDY MADBALL'S SOLO ALBUM OUT NOVEMBER 4TH! APPEARANCES FROM RANCID, VINNIE PAZ, TRAVIS MCCOY (GYM CLASS HEROES) REEF THE LOST CAUZE AND SLAINE (LA COKA NOSTRA), 'London Calling' featuring Rancid is up NOW at myspace.com/freddymadball Freddy Cricien, known forever as Freddy Madball for his role as vocalist for the legendary hardcore group Madball, has announced the release of his solo album on November 4th. The album titled, Catholic Guilt, will contain Freddy’s tough-as-nails vocals but with different muscles flexed. “I’m doing everything on this album, singing, rhyming and yelling, rhyming being the focal point.” says Freddy. While Madball have always had an urban beat to their sound, Catholic Guilt has all out boom bap beats and rock breaks. DJ Stress The White Boy (produced/remixed for Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Tyga, Reef The Lost Cauze and more) provides the bulk of the production along with LD (LDEEZLE productions, Pitchfork Hardwear). Speaking on his meeting with Stress, which was the catalyst for this album coming together, Freddy says, “A friend of mine knew I was working on my hip hop stuff, he mentioned his friend Stress was a talented producer etc. He also grew up in the HC scene, he knew my background in that world, but was big into hip hop culture. It sort of just made sense for us to meet and talk. We did and the rest is history." "The only other producer on this is my man LD we've been friends for a long time. We were actually going to do a record some years back, but that took a back seat when I was sidetracked by Hazen St." Appearances on this album came from friends and allies including Rancid who appear on the re-imagining of “London Calling”, Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks on the track “Dark Of The Night,” Slaine (La Coka Nostra, Special Teamz), Jaysaun (Special Teamz) and KO who appear on the track “Gunshots,” Reef The Lost Cauze on “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me” and Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes on “The New Black.” Speaking on the theme of the album Freddy commented, “Catholic Guilt is the title and it is a significant part of the themes of the songs. I grew up being a not so great example for Christians. But then again, who is - right? There's a lot of hypocrisy with organized religion in general. In this record, I question a lot of things about it, I question its very existence, faith, etc. I question my place in all of it as well. The other part is that constant struggle within me/people, between good and bad, heaven and hell. A lot of the songs show different sides of me, through real experiences... good ones and bad ones. The struggle continues." The album will be released November 4th on Freddy’s own Familia Entertainment. It will be available online everywhere, and exclusively available at Pass & Stow and on PitchforkNY's website. |

10 FOR $10 HARDCORE SUMMER TOUR 2009-05-19 IndieMerchStore.com is bringing back the hardcore matinee! Amid economy woes, rising show costs and the dilution of hardcore packages, they will present the 10 For $10 summer tour. Ten quality bands for ten dollars, headlined by Poison The Well, who will be performing on every date, and on separate legs of the tour headline spots from Madball, Bane and Vision Of Disorder. Also appearing will be established bands with rabid followings such as Terror, Death Before Dishonor, War Of Ages, Crime In Stereo, Trapped Under Ice, The Mongoloids, The Ghost Inside, This Is Hell and Vision. Speaking on the creation of the tour booking guru Tim Borror of The Agency Group said, “This tour is important because hardcore music is a lifestyle and has been an inspiration to the people who get involved and know what the movement and music is all about. In the last few years the crowds have been a bit smaller than what they should be and we hope an idea like this where kids are getting an opportunity to check out a lot of bands for cheap will inspire some new kids to come out, get involved and become a part of this scene to help it grow.” Echoing the sentiment Freddy Cricien of Madball said, “This 10 for 10 tour concept is way overdue in my opinion. I'm glad and thankful, that the people involved, stepped up to actually make something like this happen! Our genre (Hardcore) in the states, is in a "strange" place right now. There is somewhat of a lack of appreciation for this "sub-culture". A lot of people want to say they know certain bands, or are affiliated with this underground scene,etc,etc... Because it gives them some credibility, it sounds cool! Well, this is everyones chance to re-introduce themselves, and actually get involved with a very unique and authentic genre/movement. It's also a chance for all of us, the bands, to show our stuff as well!” Poison The Well's guitarist, Ryan Primack, says, "This tour is really exciting to us as it shows some massive diversity that occurs in the hardcore scene. I think it’s really amazing that Tim put this group of bands together. Some of bands on this tour have really shaped the good things that are happening in hardcore right now. Without some of the bands on this tour I doubt we would even be a band. Were honored and privileged to be sharing the stage with them."
